GPC Ride Schedule for the Future

(Last modified Tuesday, February 07 2012, @ 23:32 PST)

In addition to the rides listed below, we also have weekly rides.

See our ride rating system to decode the secret markings 3/TM/50 etc.

Sat Mar 10 4/LTMB/23,32,55,65,77 Alex's Second Saturday All-Club Ride
This is the GPC monthly all-club ride. Meet at Orinda BART lot at 9:00 a.m. for a prompt 9:15 departure. The first 7.5 miles all pace groups ride together at a social pace...you ll ride with club members you might not see for the rest of the month. After that, we split into five separate pace groups: LT pace group (total distance about 23 mi); T pace group (total about 55 mi); TM pace groups (totals of 32 or 65 mi); M pace group (total 75+ mi). A TM group for the 75+ mile route will be organized if enough riders are interested. All routes are pretty hilly. More information about this ride, including route details, is posted on-line at www.grizz.org/series/ssr.html. Rain cancels. If weather is questionable, or for other questions, contact ASSR Coordinator John Buenfil, (925) 686-9077, <eleganttype at earthlink dot net>. Leaders TBA.

Mon Mar 12 1/T/20 Rest day social ride
Worn out from a weekend of hard riding? This ride will be slow and easy, from downtown Berkeley to various points on the Bay Trail, and return. Meet at The Missing Link Bicycle Cooperative (corner Shattuck and University) at 9:30 a.m. for 9:40 start. Optional post-ride coffee at Berkeley Espresso and shopping at The MISSING LINK, where they always give us a ten percent discount. Jane Bailowitz, <jbwitz at earthlink dot net>, (510) 507-6979

Sat Mar 17 3/TM/100 Alameda to Davis Ride
Leave Alameda from Central and Park enroute Davis then return by train. Berkeley riders who do not want to start in Alameda should meet at the base of Tunnel (at Caldecott Lane) at 9:00 a.m. Our route will take us down Pinehurst, across St Mary's Road, Pleasant Hill Road, across the Benicia Martinez bridge then joining the standard GPC ride on Lopes Road. The Alameda group will shortcut Rockville Road and Cowell as we're only looking for 100 miles. The train schedule will be announced, cost is around $20, be sure and bring an ID. I will bring green food coloring so we can be sure to have green beers on our way back. There will be a 63 mile option for those who want it that starts at Martinez train station, this also cuts out much of the climbing. Meet at the Kaiser Medical building (old post office) near Central and park in Alameda ready to ride at 8:00 a.m. This ride occurs just after daylight savings, the sun will rise around 7:20 and set around 7:20. You could say co-listed with Team Alameda. Brian Aldrich, <brianaldrich9 at gmail dot com> (510) 693-0603. Rain cancels.

Sun Apr 1 5!!/LTMB/250-500 International Space Station
Meet at North Berkeley BART at 9:00 a.m. for this challenging uphill ride through the stratosphere and up to the International Space Station for lunch. Return via space shuttle or optional parachute-guided descent. All ride levels welcome. Anti-gravity devices recommended, but true "B" riders should be able to muscle up to the stratosphere on their own. Leaders: Jane Bailowitz (<skinnyweakling at LTpace dot net>) and Mark Abrahams (thunderthighs@hammer.hed)

Sat Dec 29 4/TM/50-65 Geysers
Prep for New Years Day. On this date in 2011 we had 11 riders on the Geysers. Ten of us rode Mt. Diablo on Jan 1, so it must have been helpful. More details to come.
